The 2024 Beccles Triathlon will be on Sunday 9 June;

and NEW for 2024, there will also be an AQUATHLON (swim/run) over the same 420m (14L) Lido swim course and 6.7km run course as the Triathlon.

REGISTRATION for both events will open at 11am on Saturday 16 December 2023.

The Aquathlon will start immediately after the Triathlon, while triathletes are on their bikes, so that everyone should finish together by midday.

There will be finishers medals and t-shirts for both events, as well as trophies for the winners.

There are lots of pictures of last year's Triathlon on our Facebook page, the results are here, and there's a great piece in the local paper here.

The 6.7km (4.2 mile) run route for both events will be the new route adopted in 2023: at the sailing club, you will turn right down the single track and join what is usually the return from the tow path along the river - you will then run back towards the old turn point from the river (and the footbridge across the ditch) where there will be a cone to run around and you will then run back along the same track - the track has 2 lanes - please keep right and the track is wide enough for overtaking down the middle. When you run back to the sailing club you will stay to the right of the single track and run up the grass bank and re-join the original route. The new route will be well signed and there will be marshals at key points to direct you, as well as a water station on the way out and on the way back. The run route is shown here and there are some pics on our Facebook page.

WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF RE-DEVELOPING OUR WEBSITE AND THIS WILL GO LIVE IN THE NEW YEAR. This will be where you will find up-to-date details of both the Triathlon and the Aquathlon, but most details will be the same as 2023, so these details will remain accessible until the new website is live.

The Beccles Triathlon is an early season sprint which attracts experienced Triathletes as well as newcomers - and all are equally welcome! It will be joined in 2024 by the first ever Beccles Aquathlon - a swim/run (no bike!) event on the same course and at the same time as the Triathlon.

Aquathlon's are recognised multisport events by British Triathlon and there are many other events up to European and World Championship level - get the bug and you could be representing Team GB!

Beccles and our part of the Waveney Valley has lots of beautiful places to get active outdoors, and the Triathlon and Aquathlon start and end at Beccles Lido.

We never imagined that we would get so popular, but the Triathlon sold out every year, sometimes as quickly as 35 minutes and we hope the Aquathlon will be just as popular! If that happens, we will again have a waiting list for when people drop out (and they DO drop out!).

Beccles Triathlon and Aquathlon is supported by Beccles Triathlon Club. We have the COOLEST Tri kit in the region and over 100 members, half of whom are ladies - so if you are a newcomer wanting to enter your first event we will get you Swim/Bike/Run-fit and ready! Experienced athletes looking to improve are also very welcome and we now have members who have raced and medalled for Great Britain (jn Triathlons and Aquathlons) and raced up to ironman distance. The club is very friendly and no one gets left behind! Click here for more details.

Beccles Triathlon and Aquathlon are fundraisers to support the running costs of Beccles Lido and profits go to Beccles Lido Limited, a registered charity (no 1132102), with a contribution to event organisers Beccles Triathlon Club.

We hope you enter, or will volunteer to help (we will need Marshals and general help on the day - marshalling is great fun and not hard, so why not Click here to find out more).

Or just come along and spectate!
